Gr 7 UP—Rosie Radeke longs to be a pastry chef. Henry Yi wants to take over his dad's restaurant. When both get accepted into celebrity chef Denis Laurent's prestigious nine-month cooking school program for teens, their dreams begin to seem possible. However, a challenging curriculum, a nightmare professor, and Henry's overbearing, meddlesome mother start to put undue stress on the two budding chefs. Turning to each other for help, a romance begins. The author narrates, using her experience as an actress to draw readers into the story. Her intonations are lively, engaging, and accurately portray the easily distinguishable characters in the book. The plot is well-developed and engaging, featuring relatable characters.
VERDICT This audiobook would make a great addition to library collections where realistic fiction and romance are popular.
