Toddler-PreS–Full-color photographs of babies in towels, getting wet, soaking, and soaping up all but distract from the fact that this is simple science. Words like “hypothesis” and “gravity” are set off in bright boxes and defined, but the duck falling into water will be the attention-grab. This book is ideal for answering all the whys that come up during bath time and after, about splashes and suds, and everything in between. With a cast of brown, Black, Asian, and white babies and their parents, the scenes are a delight to gaze at; not only does this equip parents for questions, but it answers their curiosity, too.
VERDICT A science entry surprise that will likely survive classroom use, too.
