PreS-Gr 2–Exclamations abound in this exuberant glance at animal life in the oceans. It touches on generalities and the unusual and lists behavior, conditions, biology, and ecology. There is no focus here to take readers a step beyond. Anthropomorphic illustrations make for a friendly romp (Wow! Thwack! Surprise! Uh oh! Roar!). Every attractive two-page spread has the feel of scrolling through social media content, jumping from one topic to another with little or no connection. There is even a brief advertisement for taking a vacation on a cruise ship, thankfully without documentation.
VERDICT Cute, but not a solid purchase for juvenile nonfiction collections.
