PreS-Gr 2–The farmer has lost her pajamas. While her day consists of doing chores, like milking the cow and caring for the wide assortment of animals, she never tires because she always gets a good night’s rest in her sheep pajamas. As night falls, the farmer discovers that she has lost those pajamas and simply won’t be able to sleep. The following day, the farmer appears a bit tired but still able to do her chores. But as the days go on without proper sleep, the farmer begins to make some mistakes, and the animals’ smiles disappear, replaced with looks of concern and outright shock. With the lack of care, the farm animals know that they must work together to solve the mystery of the missing pajamas. Digitally created illustrations fill every page, rich in color and depth. The round eyes on the characters give the animals a more human aspect. The farmer presents as white. Each page contains one to three sentences in rhyming format. A few animals have speech bubbles that they use to communicate among themselves. This story would be perfect for children learning about farms or agriculture. In addition, students learning about rhymes will enjoy the story.
VERDICT While not essential for libraries, the story is certain to be enjoyed by animal lovers who won’t want to put it out to pasture.
