PreS-Gr 5—Familiar themes like uniqueness, teamwork, and friendship are explored in this compilation starring P. King Duckling and his friends Wombat and Chumpkins. In "Fly P. King Duck" and "A Tale of Two Ducklings," P. King realizes that although he cannot fly like other ducks and he is not as popular as his cousin Dolph, he has plenty of other talents. The three friends work together in several episodes ("Hills-n-Thrills" and "A City Under the Sea") and prove that when friends pull together, they can accomplish great things. Viewers will enjoy the characters' antics. And as usual, sensible Wombat and tech-savvy Chumpkins keep P. King in line and out of trouble. Not only is the DVD entertaining for young audiences but adults will likely find themselves chuckling as well. Each computer-animated segment uses simple lines, and the characters are set in brightly colored scenes which young viewers are likely accustomed to.
VERDICT A worthy purchase for fans of the Disney Junior show; newcomers will be drawn in as well.
