3 Below: A Floors Novel

Gr 4–6—Remi and Leo are on top of the world. Ten-year-old Leo and Remi's mom are getting married. At the wedding, Merganzer D. Whippet, the owner of the Whippet Hotel and an eccentric inventor, return to give the bride and groom a trip to Mexico and send Leo and Remi off on another adventure. This time the pair must find the means to pay the property taxes, while solving another mystery Mr. Whippet has left for them. To complicate things, they only have a day to find the money or the hotel will fall into the hands of the evil Ms. Sparks who will do anything to take it over. The boys will need quick thinking, a couple of Floogers, a monkey's tail, a trip to the three basements, and luck to save the hotel. Carman's sequel (2012) to Floors (2011, both Scholastic) captures the excitement and fantastic elements of the first book. Jesse Bernstein's narration perfectly captures Leo and Remi's youth and enthusiasm as well as Ms. Sparks sour demeanor.
