PreS–“Every night, it’s the same. Leon, a penguin, wakes up. He has to use the bathroom. So, he calls: ‘Mommy, I need to go potty!’” His mother gets up and helps him. Sometimes he has to go potty twice, and Daddy Penguin helps him. In the morning, both parents are very tired, so Mommy tells Leon he’s a big boy and asks him to try to go by himself. That night he does just that and is so proud that he wakes his parents up to tell them. Simple cartoons in black graphite pencil and limited color oils illustrate this amusing story. Parents may wish potty training were that easy, but toddlers and preschoolers will undoubtedly love the book.–Blair Christolon, Prince William Public Library System, Manassas, VA
